Adaptive Podding feature allows you to deliver multiple ads in a single break with smarter sequencing, dynamic duration handling, and support for a wide range of demand sources. Adaptive podding dynamically adjusts how requests are made based on your settings and the ad server’s capabilities. Whether it’s a single call or multiple impressions, the system automatically chooses the best approach to:
-
Fill the pod efficiently
-
Match ad durations cleanly
-
Avoid duplicate impressions
-
Respect your priorities and floor pricing
This guide walks you through how to enable and configure podding effectively in your campaigns — without needing to worry about complex specs or internal logic.
1. Enabling Podding
To use ad pods, please make sure the Ad Podding option is turned on and type is set to Dynamic when setting up your source. This setting ensures that the ad break as a pod, rather than a single standalone ad.
2. Setting the Duration and Slots
When configuring an ad pod, you have two main controls:
-
Pod Max Duration: The total time allotted for the full ad break (e.g., 60 seconds).
-
Number of Slots: The maximum number of ads that can fill that break.
To enable Adaptive Podding, set the Type to Dynamic. The adaptive logic will then automatically optimize the number and length of ads based on available demand and the rules you've set elsewhere (e.g., floor price, targeting). This dynamic approach is recommended unless you have strict content or monetization requirements.
If you prefer to manually control the ad break structure, select the Custom type. This allows you to set fixed values for both the Pod Max Duration and the Number of Slots, enforcing strict limits on the break's configuration. Use this option when specific constraints necessitate a fixed ad break structure.
3. Tags and Parameters
Your ad tags should include:
-
Total pod duration (
pod_max_dur
)
4. Slot Controls
Your Account Manager can define the maximum number of ad slots per account. This helps balance performance with efficiency. Please reach out to support if changes are needed.
-
Default: 6 slots
Adaptive podding works out of the box with all major ad servers and demand platforms. If you're not sure whether a partner supports multi-ad responses, no worries — the platform will handle the differences automatically behind the scenes.
